Global Action in Nursing (GAIN) Project

We are raising $75,000 to expand our successful nurse-midwife training program in Malawi and Sierra Leone, two of the most dangerous places in the world to give birth.

In the safest place in the world to give birth, 98,000 women out of 100,000 survive. In the most dangerous place in the world to give birth, the risk of dying due to complications of childbirth is over 100 times higher. The Global Action in Nursing (GAIN) project is working to change this inequity in outcomes by offering training and year-long mentoring to nurse-midwives working in very low-resource settings.

When nurse midwives have the appropriate skills and support to deliver babies, survival of mothers and their newborns during childbirth is drastically improved.  Every woman deserves safe and respectful care during delivery. Please join us in making childbirth safe for all women.
